Just like Sigg, only better Aug 05, 2008
By Alexander Hoffman I cannot believe that Laken bottles do not get more attention.
Concerns about BPA has caused many people to replace their clear plastic water bottles -- usually Nalgene bottles -- with one alternative or another. Sigg has done really well with this, with their bottles sold out in most places.
Why a Sigg bottle? Well, they are aluminum, so they are recyclable. They come in many sizes, colors and designs. The are lighter than Nalgene bottles, too. Don't worry about metal leaching into your water/beverage, because they have some kind of food-safe epoxy lining.
How is that different than these bottles, by Laken? It's not. Not at all. Not in any way.
Plus, Laken bottles are cheaper.
I've got a few Sigg bottles, and would have gotten all Laken bottles instead had I known about them. I appreciate the wider mouths -- though still not as wide as the wide-mouth Nalgene bottles. It makes them easier to fill, makes it possible to put ice cubes in then, and even allows them to be washed in a dishwasher.
Yes Laken wide mouth bottles can be washed in a dishwasher, unlike Sigg bottles.

Switched to Laken from SIGG! Jul 11, 2009
By L. R. Fenstermaker I used to be a huge SIGG fan. That is, until the protective lining began to peel off the threading of my bottle's opening. I did some online research and came across Laken, who places the threading on the OUTSIDE of the bottle. Excellent decision! Looks like the Spanish are actually better engineers than the Swiss!
I actually purchased two Laken bottles - this one from Amazon and another one with a smaller SIGG-like opening from a different online seller (they're harder to come by - it looks like Laken discontinued them). The other bottle has threading on the inside, but it's a totally different piece of metal from the lined aluminum. I actually prefer the smaller opening and my SIGG caps work with it as well, but the larger opening on the new classic Laken isn't bad at all, especially if you like to put ice in your bottle.
The other thing I like about Laken is that they're not secretive about their lining like SIGG, so I know it doesn't contain any BPA. And like SIGG, I don't taste anything in my water with a Laken bottle. I originally switched to SIGG from Kleen Kanteen "stainless steel" bottles because I could taste metal in my water. Whether that's because I'm especially sensitive to metals or because they're made cheaply in China, I can't be sure, but in any case, I want my water to taste clean. And Laken does the trick!
One more thing - I got the granite bottle because it has some texture to it. Not a lot, but it does make it easier to grip (at least when compared to the smooth SIGG bottles).

Great Bottle to drink water from...Great Customer Service too, even though a little delayed Sep 07, 2010
By RM Actually, the first bottle I bought had a smell coming from inside. I washed it and the smell would go away. But when water would sit inside for a while the smell would come back. So I emailed them for a replacement and got a delayed reply (well it was because I contacted the wrong customer service: Global vs USA. But it's also their fault for running two different websites...can be confusing). But once I got in contact with them, the rest was great. Their customer service is great as they offered to send me a replacement bottle and to simply throw away the "icky" bottle I had. Thumbs up for being a down-to-earth customer rep :D
Oh, beware of the two different Laken websites. One is a Global website and another is a USA website. You won't get a reply from the Global website, so make sure to direct any customer service to the USA website.
Update 01/02/11: I think they listened and got rid of the global site. Good job.
Update 02/24/12: Ok, now the bottle is causing me concern. When I drink water from the bottle there is a metallic taste in the water. I checked to make sure if it was my water supply but it's not. This only happens when I drink from this bottle. The first bottle they replaced had this issue right away, but this one came delayed? I think Laken has to take another look at their manufacturing process. For this it gets decreased a star. I doubt they will confirm this problem unless more people start calling them. Currently drinking from a Camelbak non-metallic bottle...only time will tell.

I received a Laken Bottle [...] as a member gift. Love the bottle. Fits in my purse, gym back, etc. very easily. Awesome colors. I get lots of requests on where can others find one as well. Good to see that Amazon carries this brand.
